چکیده
Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) networks with multi-frequency data can be used to monitor the activity of Earth's ionosphere and generate global maps vertical total electron content (VTEC). This article introduces evaluates operational GFZ VTEC maps. The processing is based on a rigorous least squares approach using uncombined code phase observations, does not entail leveling techniques. A single-layer model spherical harmonic representation used. solutions are generated in daily post-processing mode GPS, GLONASS, Galileo data, provided for period since beginning 2000. comparison final combined International GNSS Service (IGS) product shows high consistency IGS analysis centers. validation about four years Jason-3 altimetry-derived provided, which solution has smallest bias 1.2 TEC units compared centers, 3.0 one standard deviations.

Measurements of the dual frequency Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers can be used to calculate the electron density and the total electron content (TEC) of the ionosphere layer of the Earth atmosphere. TEC is a key parameter for investigating the ongoing spatial and temporal physical process of the ionosphere. For accurate estimation of TEC from GPS measurements, GPS satellites and GPS r...
متن کاملDifferential Code Bias Estimation using Multi-GNSS Observations and Global Ionopshere Maps
Measurements of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers are affected by systematic offsets related to group and phase delays of the signal generation and processing chain. The resulting code and phase biases depend on the transmission frequency and the employed signal modulation. Within this study differential code biases (DCBs) of legacy and modernized GNSS signals are derived from...
متن کاملModeling Mars’ ionosphere with constraints from same‐day observations by Mars Global Surveyor and Mars Express
[1] We have analyzed a brief period of same‐day observations of the Martian ionosphere using data obtained in December 2004 from the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) and Mars Express (MEX) radio occultation experiments. These data were taken shortly after sunrise under solstice conditions in both hemispheres, with MGS in the summer (northern) hemisphere at high latitudes while MEX was in the winter (...

*Correspondence: Hermann Lühr, Section 2.3, Earth’s Magnetic Field, GFZ, Telegrafenberg, Potsdam 14473, Germany e-mail: [email protected] We report magnetic field observations of the components transverse to the main field in the frequency range 1–25 Hz from times of equatorial plasma irregularity crossings. These field variations are interpreted as Alfvénic signatures accompanying intermed...
